The Rotary Clubs of Madras Central, Madras T Nagar and Chennai East RA Puram, conferred the Vocational Excellence Award on actor Vadivelu at a function held in Chennai on Saturday.

Director Bharathiraja was the Chief Guest of the function. Abirami Ramanathan was also present on the occasion.

The auditorium where the function was held was packed and the audience comprised of many people including children. Not a surprise, considering that Vadivelu is a favorite among kids.

A happy Vadivelu remarked that he was delighted at being bestowed with the honor.

A busy actor in Kollywood is Bhavana. Giving her contemporaries a run for their money, this actor from God’s Own Country has had just a few releases. But she has managed to create a storm in Kollywood with her girl-next-door looks and histrionic abilities.

The recent success in Deeppavali has made her happier.

With a handful of movies under production, Bhavana says, “I am thrilled about working in director Bala’s Naan Kadavul.”

On her experiences working with Bala, she says, “I like the experience. Before I began shooting with him, people told me that he would get angry if I did not deliver. But the classroom atmosphere in which everyone was silent, appealed to me. I usually write my dialogues in English and then memorize them. But on his sets I could not do that as he changes the dialogues often. He never got angry even if I made mistakes.”

Vijay is happy that Pokkiri has sustained its good run.

A thrilled Vijay, taking part in a function organized to celebrate the successful run of Pokkiri in Salem recently, said, “I am careful about doing good movies in future to keep myself going in the industry.”

“Pokkiri’s success has certainly made me more responsible. All credit should go to director Prabhudeva,” he adds.

Asked whether he would act with Ajith again, the actor says, “Why not? If the script demands both of us in the cast, we would certainly do it.”

“For the first time, I am acting in a thriller movie. Azhagiya Thamizh Magan is a thriller which is quite different from my earlier movies. Shooting is on and the movie would be released this August.”

The movie features Shreya and Namitha opposite Vijay with musical score by AR Rahman.
