Story:

In 2007, the drug trade is booming. The Malaysian Intelligence and Anti-Narcotic Department are called upon for assistance by their Indian counterparts. There are rumours that a drug gang has recently moved their headquarters to Kuala Lumpur.

Billa (Ajith Kumar) is the leader of an underworld gang until the police commissioner tracks him down and kills him. Then police commissioner tracks down a lookalike of Billa who impersonates Billa to take down the rest of Billa’s gang while the police commissioner promises him that he will give a proper education to the children that he is looking after. But in an unexpected turn of events the police commissioner dies.

The police commissioner is the only one who knows the truth about our impersonator who now finds himself in a life-threatening situation – hunted by both the cops and the real Billa’s henchmen and to make matters worse, he then finds out that Interpol Officer is a crook and has taken the place of the real person. He is the one responsible for the police commissioner’s murder. It’s now a race to retrieve a the police commissioner’s diary in which the police commissioner has documented his substitution of the real Billa.

Shriya has the emerged a strong competitor for the numero uno status in Tamil cinema in a short span. In less than a year, she has turned the arc lights on her.

Shriya made her debut in Telugu and her stock is high especially after she was chosen to play the heroine of Rajinikanth in the Shankar-directed Sivaji. After Mazhai and the recent hit Thiruvilayadal Arambham, she is busy acting opposite Vijay in Azhagiya Tamizh Magan and Vikram’s Kandasaamy.

Shriya has managed to survive the onslaught of Malayalam heroines and bag plump offers in Tamil cinema.

One is left wondering at the rapid strides made by Shriya in Kollywood.

According to insiders, the lack of good female actors in Tamil cinema and an urge among Tamil actresses to do Telugu movies have worked out in Shriya’s favour.

With Trisha and Nayantara getting struck in Telugu films and the likes of Simran and Jyothika bidding bye to acting, the producers and directors have found a saleable material in Shriya.

However, Shriya is still down-to-earth.

“I am blessed to be busy in Tamil cinema. Acting with Rajinikanth, Vikram and Vijay is thrilling. I pray Almighty to help me continue the good run in Kollywood,” she says.

Director Shankar is giving final touches to his mega project Sivaji. The movie slated for release this Tamil New Year’s Day features Rajinikanth, Shreya, Suman and Raghuvaran in prominent roles.

Even before Sivaji could hit the screens, there is buzz and excitement in Kollywood to know whom Shankar would direct next. Sources close to the director say that Shankar would be directing a Telugu movie next.

After working with the Super Star of Tamil cinema, it is confirmed that the director will team up with the mega star of Telugu filmdom, Chiranjeevi, for this forthcoming venture.

The movie would be produced by Thirupathi Prasad.

Vikram has completed his project, Bheema. The movie is directed by Lingusamy for A M Rathinam’s Sri Surya Movies.

Vikram flexes his muscle in the movie and he turned up for shootings with a mini gym. Trisha plays the heroine in the movie.

Vikram has resumed shooting for his next Kandasaamy directed by Susi Ganesan with Shreya playing his lady love.

The actor, who had no releases in 2006, will have back-to-back releases in Bheema and Kandasaamy this year.

Will Vijay work in a movie to be produced by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s grand-son Udhaya Nidhi?

There were speculations that the two would come together this year.

When queried, Udhaya Nidhi said, “It is certain that I would try my hand at film production, but the actor and the director have not been decided.”

On his part, Vijay said, “The project is still under consideration and we haven’t finalized it as yet.”

However, it looks likely that the two have decided to work together.

Recently Udhaya Nidhi took part in a function organized in Madurai to celebrate the good run of Pokkiri and heaped laurels on the actor and it was reported that the two were closeted for a while.
